All of our services are always performed by a board certified dermatologist. With a significant increase in mid-level providers (physician assistants, nurse practitioners) it has become more difficult to schedule an appointment with a board certified doctor. At Refine Dermatology, you will always see a board certified dermatologist for your skin concerns. Whether it be medical, surgical or cosmetic you can be assured that you are getting the best and most up to date treatment options available.
A board certified dermatologist must complete a 4 years bachelor’s education, 4 years of medical school, 1 year of internship and at least 3 additional years in an accredited dermatology residency. They must also complete rigorous examinations in dermatology and make a commitment to continue their medical education with the latest advances in the industry.
Whether it be skin, hair, or nails, board certified dermatologists receive training in treating over 3,000 dermatologic conditions. Dermatologists understand the association between the skin and body. Often a rash can be a sign of an underlying condition. It is important for a dermatologist to be well-trained and understand not only the patient’s skin condition, but how it affects the patient as a whole.
Dermatologists treat people of all ages. Anyone with concerns about a condition affecting the skin, hair or nails should see a board certified dermatologist. It is recommended people start annual skin examinations in early adulthood to prevent or diagnose skin cancer in its earliest stages. For those with a history of skin cancer, they often need to be examined more frequently (every 3-6 months) for optimal care.
